… apple, itouch, ipod, apps, applications, reviews part deux!

… yesh, i am once again fishing for hits! i’m horrible, but i can live with myself. that’s what’s important, eh?

so, round two with the apple iTunes application recommendations! there are already more that i’d like to blog about, so please let me know what you like, don’t like and of course highly recommend if you have an opinion!

game #1 - Crash Bandicoot, Nitro Kart 3D - Costs $9.99 to buy and install onto your iTouch or iPhone. For anyone who’s ever played any of the Crash series on Nintendo, Playstation, etc; Crash offers fun racing, power-ups, challenging levels and fantastic graphics. When the app store opened almost 2 months back, this game was by far the leader. things are slowly changing now that games are being released almost daily with competitive offerings and graphics, but overall, this is still one of the best. it has excellent replay value and rightfully so with a durned-near $10 buck pricetag. my only wish would be some updates online. ’nuff said. A+

game #2 - Monkey Ball - Costs $9.99 to buy and install onto your iTouch or iPhone. how can anyone not love a bunch of racing monkeys stuck in orb-like balls? well, maybe some of you. it’s one of the most accelerator-sensitive games out there (which roughly translates to: your f**king monkey falls into oblivion a LAWT a lawt) but it’s still one of the most creative racing/timed games around. look for the youTube video demo first if you’re not big on balancing skills. app store doesn’t do refunds. A

game #3 - Chopper - Costs $4.99 to buy and install onto your iTouch or iPhone. who remembers some of those awesome chopper games like Apache as kids? simple missions, go get the crashed survivors and get home safe! well, this is prolly the ONLY helicopter game via the itunes store that creates that genre of game almost perfectly. simple, fun, and not too addictive to the point you’ll forget you’re standing in the line at starbucks needing to refuel. A

game #4 - Cannon Challenge/Game - FREE to download and install onto your iTouch or iPhone. Just like the Chopper review above, who remembers some of that awesome tank game where you had to pick your altitude then “cannon powder/velocity” to release your shot? okay, it was lame and if you DO recall this game, you prolly spent too much time in your basement playing video games instead of dating… but HEY!, over the hills or across your “volley” went, only to go SPELUNK or SPLAT on the enemy tank. well, this is a new take on the old game via the itunes store that creates that new level of interst. there’s specific targets to hit with new obstacles to avoid. simple, fun, but definitely in need of some updates from it’s creators. i beat it in about 14 minutes. (and i was only kinda one of those kids that played too many games i the basement) B

game #5 - Vay - Costs $4.99 to buy and install onto your iTouch or iPhone. This is a “reformatted for your TV” (okay, iPod) cult classic from 1994 that’s found itself all prettied up with touchscreen graphics and snazzy lights.  a fun RPG overall, tho i must admit that i cannot STAND interpretive language games where heros sound like whiney pissheads. the developers, however, have listened to their fan’s comments and ratings tho, and the updates have made the game much more fun with bonuses, autosave functions, and tweaks here and there making it still one of the best RPG’s out there currently .  B

game #6 - Vector Pong - hmmmmm, well, this game is suddenly and mysteriously missing from iTunes as of this week. i’ll investigate and see if i can get any news on why it’s gone. well, one reason i do know… it was harder than shit to play… tho quite enjoyable in a “viewed through tron’s helmet” kinda way. futuristic and again, actually quite challenging. well.. gone or not, it still earned a ”B“

Until next time, everyone. take care, and please share this site and it’s apple-related entries if they’ve been helpful!
